Learning 310B: make progress visible.
Originally published
A useful question for a mentor: how will I know that I am improving?
Practise, demonstrate, record
Skilled Trades Ontario describes workplace learning in 310B through specific competencies. As an apprentice demonstrates the required skills, the sponsor or trainer signs the relevant sections of the training standard. Time spent learning and demonstrated competence belong in the same conversation.
Bring one clear question
Ask your mentor: which skill am I practising, what should I improve, and what would a successful demonstration look like? Personal notes can help you remember feedback; they do not replace the official training record. Start with the official trade information and discuss your progress with your sponsor or trainer.
