Checking a 310B credential: start with the public register.
Originally published
A useful habit when exploring a skilled trade is to check the official source. Here is where to start with a 310B credential.
What can you check?
Skilled Trades Ontario offers a public register to help confirm whether a professional or apprentice can legally work in a compulsory trade. You can search by all or part of a name, or by an STO account number.
Put the result in context
310B is a compulsory trade in Ontario. Its official trade profile explains the required credentials and says a Certificate of Qualification must be renewed to remain valid. Check the relevant trade and current entry; contact Skilled Trades Ontario if a result is unclear.
A question for your next conversation
Ask a potential mentor how their trade qualification and experience relate to the work you hope to learn. A register check can inform that conversation; it does not replace questions about supervision and learning support.
