310B: demonstrate the skill.
Originally published
Watching an experienced worker can help you understand a task. In Ontario’s 310B apprenticeship, developing a skill also means demonstrating it.
Use the training standard
Skilled Trades Ontario explains that the 310B Apprenticeship Training Standard sets out the skills developed through practical on-the-job training with a skilled worker or trainer.
Show what you can do
As skills develop, the sponsor or trainer signs the relevant sections when the apprentice has demonstrated the required skills and met the training objectives. Watching alone is not that demonstration.
Ask a useful question
An apprentice can ask: ‘What do I need to demonstrate for this training objective?’ Someone exploring the trade can start with a supervised conversation, such as Jordan’s fictional shop visit. A visit does not register an apprenticeship or establish training credit.
Watch Jordan ask questions during a shop visit
Jordan’s story is a fictional AI-generated illustration with English audio; it does not show an operating Elite Auto college.
