Colour matching: why the details matter.

Two red cars can catch your eye. In a repair shop, “red” is only a starting point. Colour matching is included in Ontario’s 310B in-school curriculum.
Ask what the technician checks
During a supervised shop visit, ask: “How do you decide whether the colour matches?” Let the technician explain the checks and the reasons for them. Stay in the visitor area and follow the shop’s safety instructions.
Learning goes beyond watching
310B combines workplace training with classes. A demonstration introduces an idea; it does not qualify you to carry out refinishing work or automatically earn apprenticeship credit.
A useful next step
Notice whether careful observation and problem-solving interest you. Write down one question and discuss it with a teacher or guidance counsellor. They can help you explore a suitable starting point.
